Client: AMP Fab
Location: Oldham
Application: Museum and Art Gallery Storage Solution, South of France
Brief: AMP Fab, a team of bespoke storage consultants for museums and art galleries, recently won a prestigious contract in the South of France to design and build a ‘behind the scenes storage solution’ for an exclusive artist’s gallery. The main point of the brief for the project was that the picture storage system should not extend into the gallery space.
Solution: The only system that would counter lever the storage system was Chambrelan’s slides and linear rails. Capable of carrying heavy loads without compromising the functionality of movement, AMP Fab’s team of engineers needed a massive extension and therefore chose Chambrelan’s E1700, with a 1500mm closed length. The E1700 is renowned for it’s strength and durability and for it’s compact profile and extreme load rating.
Feedback: “Chambrelan instinctively knew what we were trying to achieve and immediately grasped the complexity of the project. Admittedly they are more expensive than cheaper slides, but in terms of performance and quality, we knew they were the only slides on the market that could do the job as well. I would recommend Chambrelan slides to anyone needing a compact profile slide with an extreme load rating.” Adam Beck, Director.
Client: Kelvin Lymer, Sand Pit Forge
Location: Worcester
Application: British Olympic Team Farrier – Retrofit on Land Rover Discovery
Brief: Chosen for the forthcoming Olympics, as one of only three official farriers and also farrier for the British Endurance team, Kelvin Lymer needed to create a mobile forge, built into his Land Rover Discovery, that could house his tools, anvil and other equipment needed for the hot and heavy work of shoeing horses.
Solution: With loads of up to 450 Kilos, Kelvin needed an extremely strong heavy duty slide, capable of a smooth sliding motion that could perform day in day out without loss of performance. The only heavy duty slide strong enough to carry such loads was the R102 at 1000mm, one of Chambrelan’s strongest Zinc plated stainless steel slides.
Feedback: “Having done our research, the only slide we found to be strong enough to carry the loads needed was Chambrelan’s R102.” Kelvin Lymer, Olympic Team Farrier
Client: Preci Spark
Location: Loughborough
Application: Hi temp Oven application
Brief: Preci Spark are experts in high technology superalloy, titanium and aluminium fabrications and are the leading manufacturers of components for the aerospace and industrial markets. Preci Spark needed a heavy duty sliding system to carry components into a high temperature oven that exceeded 250c. Due to the weight of the components each pair of slides had to carry 135 kilos, whilst providing enough extension to safely deliver and remove the components.
Solution: Other slides had not met up to the challenge and it was only when Preci Spark’s research led them to the Chambrelan range that they found a suitable alternative. The only slide strong enough to cope with the temperatures, the weight and with the right extension was the RA7, with a massive 1,000mm closed length and an over extension of 1,200mm that included 200mm over extension. Made from cold drawn steel section, these slides are made to take the most gruelling conditions and designed with easy install and maintenance in mind, the slides are continuing to perform well.
Feedback: “They are working very well and continuing to take the extreme loads demanded of them.” Dave Beecroft, Design Engineer, Preci Spark
Client: Pickup Systems
Location: Blackburn
Application: Multi Purpose Utility Vehicle
Brief: Pickup Systems, the team of bespoke designers and body converters, recently have announced an altogether new Multi Purpose Utility Vehicle designed to tackle frontline urban and rural fires, as well as being able to transform into support vehicle for other emergency scenarios. Because the vehicle will be taking the pressure of the larger fire units and be very much operating on the front line it needed to hold and store essential equipment, on top of it’s fogging system, ladder and water tank.
Solution: As well as sporting Chambrelan’s new slide and tilt system, Pickup Systems have also used Chambrelan’s heavy duty slides across the vehicle build, to carry the water pump. Using the RA7 which boasts incredible strength and smooth, constant operation the slides were easily installed onto the vehicle, providing strength and support where needed.
Feedback: “Chambrelan’s heavy duty slides and sliding systems are our first choice.” John Mcgauley, Managing Director, Pickup Systems
Location: Hertfordshire
Application: Nursery
Brief: 17 years ago Burston Nurseries purchased a compost hopper, to pack and box seedlings into containers for market. In all of that time our slides have only failed twice, after packing nearly 20 million boxes in one of the most extreme working environments our slides have had to perform in. This works out to be roughly 5 million movements of about 1.3m for each slide, which is equivalent of 6,500,000 metres, which is 6,500 kilometres of total travel.
To put that into perspective, that’s the same as journeying to the centre of the earth, however nothing lasts forever and a new set would be required for the return journey. Luckily enough these can be ordered via our website and therefore no need to get hot under the collar.
Solution: The E50 rail and a G52 carrier were chosen to deliver the 1350mm of extension needed to pack and stack the young plants for market. Burston Nurseries, needing to avoid down-time waiting for a replacement slide, were delighted to find that Chambrelan Heavy Duty slides were able to deliver a product that hadn’t gone out of production and that they could order directly, thereby reducing lead times on ordering.
Feedback: “After 17 years of constant use, it’s only the second time we’ve had to replace Chambrelan’s heavy duty slides. Fitting couldn’t be easier and we were very pleased to find that Chambrelan can deliver to our timetable, as well as having the stock available when we needed it.” James Alcaraz, Burston Nurseries

Client: Ambulance Fleet Care Service
Location: West Yorkshire
Application: Battery Boxes
Brief: There are a number of different uses for slides in Ambulance builds; slides are used for medical cabinets, internal lockers and heavy duty slides are used to house battery boxes. Designed to carry up to four batteries, weighing roughly 40 kilos each, the battery box – developed by AFS – has to be of strong stuff, especially when Ambulances are travelling at speed and the weight of the batteries increases with the G-force of the moving vehicle. In this respect it’s easy to see how battery boxes need maintaining.
Solution: Up to four heavy duty slides can be needed to carry such a weight and the only slide strong enough to cope with the load capacity was the RA554. In addition to selling the complete battery box, A.F.S. also supplies all the working parts and spares for the battery box, including individual Chambrelan slides. With distribution agreement A.F.S. have guaranteed their customers a regular supply of this essential stowage equipment.
Feedback: “A.F.S pride ourselves on supplying the right spares and parts for Fleet Managers and vehicle manufacturers. Chambrelan’s reputation as manufacturer of heavy duty slides and sliding systems means we have a regular supply of an excellent, reliable range of slides.” James Gooder, Director A.F.S

Client: Tata Steel
Location: Ireland
Application: Heavy Duty Forklift Trucks
Brief: With two machines down – due to key sliding systems failure – which prevented normal cab operation, Tata needed replacement heavy duty slides and fast. The original slides – not from Chambrelan – were expected to operate under severe circumstances and continuous heavy shock vibrations, which in the end proved too much.
Solution: Chambrelan were asked to supply a replacement slide that would fit within the existing space envelope and because production was being impacted, availability and delivery were of almost equal priority as choosing the right heavy duty slide. With a huge of experience in fitting heavy duty slides to a wide range of applications, Chambrelan UK were able to suggest the RA5, one of Chambrelan’s longest standing and most reliable heavy duty slides. With an up to the minute online stock programme, availability was confirmed and within 7 days the slides were delivered. Chambrelan’s ability to meet deadlines and configure slides to client’s needs is part of our service and since we manufacturer, carry stock and deliver quickly we were able to help reduce any further operational delays to Tata’s production schedule.
Feedback: “We were very pleased with the turn-round and quality of the Chambrelan RA5. We’re very happy with the service and the short time delivery turn over. I can’t fault Chambrelam’s service or their product.” Roger Crooks, Tata Steel
Client: WH Bence
Location: West Country
Application: Breast Screening Units
Brief: WH Bence are market leaders in building mobile breast screening units. Their ability to create highly flexible quality built screening facilities has brought orders from both NHS and independent healthcare providers for a range of mobile medical and diagnostic solutions. As well as containing the screening technology the units also house air conditioning units, integrated power supply, reception area and changing rooms.
Solution: Heavy-duty slides were needed to carry the generator, weighing 600 kilos. Access was needed for quick and easy maintenance and operational usage. By working together, and having been provided with the load rating, Chambrelan suggested the E1902, The E1902 is a three beam telescopic slide of an i-beam construction, making the intermediary beam even stronger. The E1902 has 100% extension and it is available in closed lengths from 500mm to 1800mm as standard, but additional length can be specified on request. Load capacity ranges from 250kg to 950kg, which is spread across three beams, this range has incredible load capacity for example the 600mm slide can carry 950kg on full extension.
Chambrelan’s E1902’s comes in the latest White Zinc Finish which boasts even higher levels of levels of corrosion protection. Used across wide of applications especially rail industry, chiefly used on battery boxes for Rolling Stock, this is a rugged, heavy duty slide, fantastically designed slide, very versatile with multiple additional options.
Feedback: “We have had no issue with the slides performance and chose the slides because of price, quality and service.” Richard Fern, Designer, WH Bence
Client: Beam Rider
Location: Malvern , Worcestershire
Application: Laser Guided Line Markers
Brief: As manufacturers of laser guided line markers that are used on soft surfaces, hard surfaces and artificial surfaces, notably football pitches, parking bays or factory floors. The BeamRider works via a system of lasers and reflectors, once locked the user simply needs to follow the line. BeamRider needed a slide that would hold the carrying arm, which delivers the paint to the surface.
Solution: Essentially the BeamRider team needed a slide that had the right extension. The most suitable slide from Chambrelan’s collection was the R28 DD, chosen for it’s cold drawn steel strength and rigidity, but more importantly, the R28 DD has excellent extension, allowing the beam rider to extend and retract smoothly during it’s operation.
Feedback: “We chose Chambrelan Slides for their extension, strength and then for their reliability and availability.” Shoaib Rangooni, Technical Support Engineer
Client: Woodwards SVS Ltd
Location: St. Helens, Merseyside
Application: Standing Platforms on specialist trailers.
Brief: Woodwards SVS Ltd have been building trucks and bodies since 1922 and subsequently have a long list of truck dealerships, local authorities, the utilities industry and emergency services, as clients. In this instance Woodwards had been commissioned to build a specialised trailer for carrying power generator equipment. The stowable access platform was necessary to enable the operators to fuel & service the generator set.
Solution: Because the access equipment and platform were exposed to the salt water and oxidizing chemicals Woodwards foresaw that issues of corrosion demanded that the most resistant slides available were specified. In it’s natural state the ST509 is one of the only heavy duty, rugged, stainless steel slides strong enough to take high loads, vibration & stress while offering the levels of corrosion resistance demanded by the application.
Feedback: “We have used Chambrelan slides in the past and are very happy with their performance and strength; the ST509, due to the stainless steel which it is made from, is expensive, but worth it.” Colin Newell, Managing Director of Woodwards SVS Ltd.
Client: Based Upon
Application: Art Installation
Brief: Based Upon is a London based studio of artists designing and hand-making large reliefs, sculptural furniture and applied decorative surfaces. The project Based Upon are working on is top secret, but involves using our slides as ‘guides’ by which antiquing liquids were applied to the piece, aging it with a linear finish.
Solution: Chambrelan suggested the E53 and G53, which are mounted on ball bearings, providing the much needed smooth running of the machine that applies the antiquing liquid.
Feedback: “We chose Chambrelan slides because they were the cheapest slides on the market!” Igor Ocka, Based Upon
Client: Denny Equestrian
Location: Isle of Man
Application: Horsebox re-haul
Brief: Carriage racing is a sport that requires great deals of time from home. For professional carriage drivers Sue Denney and Simon Willis lead an exhausting lifestyle. As British champions their Sue Denney and Simon Willis’s lifestyle is exhausting and so having a larger horsebox that would be both living quarters as well as a mobile stable required a re-haul by way of adding an extra large single cabin, designed to contain the bathroom, which meant dropping the extend on both sides of the vehicles. The team decided that they would operate the extendable pod via hydraulics. Once extended an additional 9sqm of space was added to the vehicle. The problem was finding a slide strong enough to take the weight and that could be easily repairable.
Solution: Chambrelan’s RA7 was the only slide on the market that could carry the weight and be used in conjunction with hydraulics that could ‘kick out’ the cabin smoothly and safely. The triple bar design means it is highly durable and can be operated consistently in hard working environments.
Benefits: Rough environments and heavy load capacities meant access for maintenance was hugely important; for this reason alone the RA7 a perfect choice. The length of the slides was also a major factor; they needed to be strong enough to take the load and short enough to fit on the vehicles.
