LILO - Chambrelan's latest 'Lock In Lock Out' Slam Lock

L.I.L.O Slam Lock Draw Front

A few issues ago we introduced you to our Slam Lock Draw Front and due to popular demand we’ve decided to modify with a Lock In, Lock Out option.  This option will allow the draw to be locked in an extended position and works by operating a dual lock mechanism, fitted both to the front and rear of the draw.

The LILO kit consists of a new front button with a captive M8 nylock, a new internal button and a captive M8 nylock and 4 lock blocks.

Made from high strength, Grade ‘A’ plastics, the LILO Slam Lock has been designed to take the punishing use received from front line crews and incorporates a stainless steel bar and stainless steel fasteners for added strength.  The aluminium handle uses one of the strongest automotive coatings available on the market, namely a black Electrochemical Deposition Coating (EDC) and has passed 310 hour salt spray test with flying colours.  Speaking of which, the LILO Slam lock comes in black and yellow!

RA31 - Chambrelan's Smallest 3 beam slide

RA31

One of the key advantages offered by Chambrelan, is our ability to produce unusual slides in low volumes.  This is due to our production methods being based on machining and drawing processes rather than rolling and press work, which is more suitable for high volume production.  This results in slides, such as our RA31 model, being available from stock in closed lengths as short as 150mm with no minimum order quantity other than a £50 minimum order charge.  To find the same slide from one of our competitors, one would be subjected to minimum order volumes of 250-500 pairs, which can make ordering a specialised product like this untenable.

The RA31 has impressive load carrying potential for it’s size and is more often than not used, in electronic equipment and other electro-mechanical applications.

ST53 Rail - Latest Product from Chambrelan

Chambrelan Product Review – ST53 Rail & GS53 & GS57 Carriers

The ST53 is a new stainless steel rail, using either the GS53 or GS57 stainless steel carrier, all of which are brand new products introduced by Chambrelan this year.  Essentially the ST53 section is used across a number of sides, as either the outer, intermediate and the inner core of our slides.  This ‘flexibility’ means the section can be mixed and matched with rails to form more and more combinations and since more of the same section is used across a number of different products costs are kept low.

In addition availability has improved due to the standardisation of the ST53 across other slides and new features, which came into effect this year.  Other unique features are new end stops, which have been updated from just being travel stops and now are not only shock absorbent, but help improve load resistance.

In terms of carriers, Chambrelan have just launched a new GS53 and GS57 carrier, which use re-circulating ball bearings to spread operating loads more evenly than the other two wheel roll carriers currently on the market.  These two wheel rollers tend to buckle and drag against the rail, jamming the system and causing loss of operational functionality.

Chambrelan’s re-circulating carriers remove this problem, spread operating loads more evenly, which ensures a constant and regular smooth movement that maximises the carriers’ lifespan.

For Load carrying capacity on a major axis the GS53 carrier can carry 170kg, whilst on a minor axis load capacity is 85kg.  The GS57 can carry 110kg on the major axis and 55kg on the minor axis.

Chambrelan Product Review – ST508

Lastest Heavy Duty Slide from Chambrelan

ST508 - almost half the price of the old ST509

Another product to be launched by Chambrelan this year is the ST508.  The ST508 is a solid stainless steel slide, having evolved from the older ST509.  By using the latest manufacturing technologies to produce the stainless steel section, the overall production costs have been massively reduced resulting in the pricing of this product, being halved without compromising the strength, long life and quality expected from a Chambrelan slide.

As a result the use of a specialised stainless steel slide has become a much more affordable option when looking for the ideal slide solution within more unique and demanding applications.

Another new addition to the ST508 is the final surface treatment, the sections are bathed in a unique wash, which gives the slides an even matt finish.  It’s got to look good as well, right?

For further information on the ST508 or on any of our slides please visit www.chambrelan.com or alternatively contact Jeremy Binnington on 07868 971 089 or Tony Macis on 07868 971 089.

New Slide Development by Chambrelan - The RA9R

Review – RA9

Chambrelan are delighted to introduce a brand new heavy-duty slide which has been in development for sometime.  The RA9R is a three beam nested slide and aims to bridge the gap for vehicle builders needing the extra-load capacity, but struggle to provide sufficient space envelope for an E1700.

The RA9 therefore sits directly in between the popular RA7R and the E1700, a 3 section I-beam constructed slide which gives it its exceptional strength.  E.g. an E1700 of 1000mm will support 430kilos per pair, with a 1% deflection figure and the RA7R, at the same length, will carry 230kilos per pair, with the same deflection.  The RA9R has been designed to carry similar loads, whilst offering a reduced width in profile.

Made from carbon steel and using Chambrelan’s high performance Zinc coating, which gives added corrosion protection and strength.  Sadly this is just a sneak preview and manufacturing will begin very shortly.  We’ll keep you updated.

However we’re already working with clients by reconfiguring the RA9r for their specific builds and we’re always here to help, should you need any further advice on how the RA9 can offer the right strength and fit.

Chambrelan adds Synchronised / Sequential movement

Chambrelan adds Synchronised / Sequential movement

Product Review:  ‘Synchronisation’

Although synchronized slide movement – or sequential movement as it’s sometimes known – is not an unusual extra feature offered by slide manufacturers; Chambrelan will be the first manufacturer of heavy-duty 3-beam nested slides that include synchronised movement as standard across all its heavy duty locking slides.

From a practical point of view a synchronised slide is able to lower operating forces, whilst improving load carrying capabilities.  In addition synchronised slides reduce the potential for ‘ball cage creep’, which can occur when beams are only partly extended, which can cause in some cases, either excess force to be used, leading to either the slides functionality being impaired or in worse case scenarios, injuring the user.

The benefits of these slides vary:  from lower operational loads, through to regularized movement on wide draws and high volume draw storage, meaning if there’s an uneven load in the draw, ‘lozenging’ can cause the slide to jam and thereby fail.  In addition most general storage systems are designed to carry non-specific load applications, for example draws designed to carry a maximum of 250 kilos don’t always carry this load and in some cases carry smaller loads, depending on the need.  These ‘non specific loads’ can cause lack of continuity in the operation of the storage system, which seriously effects their operation.  With a synchronised slide these problems are resolved, giving a continually smooth operation, regardless of the load.

New Slide and Tilt System From Chambrelan

New Slide and Tilt System From Chambrelan

Slide & Tilt System

Made from aluminium, Chambrelan’s new ‘Slide and Tilt’ system is already set to outflank rivals in terms of weight and performance; by working with vehicle builders Chambrelan has developed new end stops and impact stops, fitted both to the carrier and the rail.  The new design changes come in response to working closely with vehicle builder’s who have expressed their frustration with some aspects of the current design.

Since many of these mechanisms have to operate under extreme pressure and wear, the new Chambrelan ‘Slide and Tilt’ system uses re-circulating ball bearing carriers, a design concept which has been in service for at least five years and has so far not knowingly needed to be replaced.  These ball bearings help spread the mass of the equipment stowed in the draw, more evenly within the profile of the rail.  This minimizes operating loads and maximises the lifespan of the sliding system.

R26 DD

NEW PRODUCT LAUNCH - CHAMBRELAN

Chambrelan's latest Bi-Directional Slide

Manufactured from cold drawn steel the R26 is the latest slide to offer a bi-directional movement capable of being used to access draws on either side of an application.  Whilst the concept of bi-directional slides seems straightforward, design and manufacturing of these slides is more problematic than one would think.

The main obstacle to overcome is the coordination of the beam movements, especially where a slide has three beams, two of which are moving.  Engineers at Chambrelan have developed a unique internal sequence mechanism that ensures that the beams of the slides are released for travel in the specific sequence required for correct and safe operation in both the opening and closing of the draws, regardless of which side of the application the draws are to be operated from.

The R26 is the latest two-beam model Chambrelan has made with a bi-directional double extension, it follows a suit of slides including heavy duty RA5s, RA7s, R82, R102, E1700 and E1012 amongst other; all of which are available with the bi-directional double extension functionality.

RA7

Made of cold drawn steel the RA7 is the big brother of the RA5 and picks up where the RA5 leaves off.  With it’s 3 beams this steel slide confirms to the RoHS European regulation and consists of a zinc layer of (on average) 12 microns, with a minimum of 8 microns thickness. Standard closed lengths for the RA7 start at 250mm to 2000mm with a maximum load capacity of 30kg.

Ball bearings allow for smoother operation and, due to their placement, means the RA7 carries the heaviest load even in the most testing conditions.  Standard operating temperatures work upto 80C including the plastic fitted parts, but if an application is to be used in even more strenuous conditions we can adapt the RA7 from anything between –65C to +250C.  For this modification please clarify when ordering.

The RA5 – Heavy Duty Ball Bearing Slides

There are over 30 heavy-duty slides available from Chambrelan, the global market leader of linear motion systems, each having been designed and developed to operate under the most gruelling conditions.  As manufacturers we take the raw materials and engineer them to your specifications, as a result we are constantly developing our product range to meet the changing face of industry.

Over the coming months we intend to introduce you to some of our slides, detail their specifications and discuss the type of applications they have and can be used on.
